Sonja Swanepoel is a sculptor and environmental architect. Re-connection to nature and the interconnectedness of all things underpin her work. Her sculptures intend to convey ecological messages regarding our deteriorating relationship with nature to inspire acts of restoration and conservation. Based in Cape Town, she aims to inspire positive change by sharing the core values that nature embodies through her art and landscape restoration projects.

“The less we are convinced of our exceptionalism,

the greater our ability to understand and contribute to our environment.

The less blindly we are driven by our own needs,

the clearer we can appreciate the needs of those around us and the larger ecosystem of which we are part
